Arndt you glad he’s here

Although new to UACHS, Daniel Arndt is not new to teaching. He joined the staff this year as part of the physical education department.

Arndt earned his teaching certificate and masters degree in physical education at the University of West Virginia. Since his time as a student athlete, Arndt knew that he wanted to be a physical education teacher. Having always had a passion for being active, Arndt believes that physical education guided him to his path to teach here.

Before relocating to New Jersey, Arndt taught at Brooklyn Middle School in Richmond, Virginia for three years.

While joining the PE department at UACHS, Arndt has also agreed to become the head coach of the Generals track /cross country team. In high school he was a member of the track and field team. Due to his dedication to track he eventually received a Division one scholarship but went the safer and easier route and went for the Division two offers.

“I was actually a shot putter in indoor and outdoor track for four years on my high school track team,” said Arndt.

He hopes that through a shared love of track he makes connections with his students.

“I want to continue to build a relationship with the kids, and share my love for sports with them as well,” said Arndt.

He wants to not only connect with students but also staff and administrators with already having a good connection with Principal Erie Lugo.

“It is funny because I had several interviews but Lugo was the only principal that I actually met on zoom,” said Arndt. “In all my interviews, that teacher to principal connection really stuck out to me because it showed me that he cared who taught the students in this school.”

Ardnt believes every school has something different and being in this school has been a blessing for him. Even with the transition from teaching in a middle school to a highschool, Arndt aspires to make students better people. Using the school’s mission to educate tomorrow’s leaders.
