With the start of a new football season, the Snyder Tigers are gearing up for what they hope will be a successful year. After last year’s record of 6-4, with the new squad, the Tigers are 4-4.
Unfortunately, last year the Tigers were unable to make the division playoffs. They ended their 2023 season with a record shorter than they had last year.
Although the Tigers season started off a bit rough with the team dropping their first two games, the team pulled it together to pick up their first win of the season during game three. The Tigers assistant coach, Deshawn Tyler thinks that even with a bad start the team can finish the season strong.
“This season has been a rough start but it is not about how you start but how you finish,” said Tyler. “It has been a great learning experience this season, trials and tribulations.”
This season, many players have been lost due to eligibility, injuries, graduation, or players transferring.
“We lost five to seven key players to injury eligibility and injuries,” said Tyler. “The key for the team this season is the 2025 class.” said Tyler.
The Dickinson Rams have also had a rough start to their season. They are on a four game losing streak. With their record being 0-6. They are last place in their division.
They are however looking forward to at least getting a win since they already do not qualify to make the playoffs. They have lost too many games. UACHS Student and Dickinson player Ayyub Brown, has a positive insight towards his first football season.
“It is my first year, so I have not played that long,” said Brown. “We started off the season with a horrible start, but we still have room to improve.”
In keeping with the positivity that many young players at UACHS exude, Brown hopes to at least get some wins before the season is over.
“I have a good team and a good environment that makes me feel comfortable,” said Brown. “It is too late for us to make the playoffs, but we can still win a couple of our last games.”
Both the Tigers and Rams are focused on improvement and building teamwork. Hopefully this focus will eventually translate to more wins.
