Avatar: The Way of Water is the long anticipated sequel to the 2009 film Avatar. 

James Cameron’s Avatar is the story about genetically matched human scientists using Na’vi-human hybrids called “avatars”to explore Pandora. 

Paraplegic Marine Jake Sully is sent there to replace his deceased identical twin, who had signed up to be an operator. He goes into the avatar world and experiences wonders that he hadn’t never imagined. He finds out that whatever negative things  they thought about the Na’vi was nothing like how they really were. During his mission he meets this special avatar girl called Neytiri, and falls in love with her. This leads to him doing everything he can to help her and her people even if it blows his cover. 

According to USA Today, Avatar became the highest grossing film of all time in 2009. It held this title for nine years before finally being knocked out by Black Panther in 2018. Needless to say, fans have been anticipating the sequel for quite sometime. 

Fans are upset with how long it has taken for the sequel to be released, but with the premiere around the corner many are excited. James Cameron is known for his groundbreaking inventions that have helped advance filmmaking. This new film will be even more advanced than the original.  It will have a richer audio experience with the upgrade to 9.1 sound and will also include some scenes that have been adjusted to 48 frames-per-second instead of the traditional 24 frames-per-second. 

Internet fan sites believe that The Way of Water revolves around the story of the Sully family; Jake, Neytiri, and their kids, the troubles that follow them and the lengths they go to in order to keep each other safe. Like its predecessor, fans are expecting to witness the battles  the Na’vi people fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure. Avatar: The Way of Water is set to be released December 16, 2022.
