As new faces emerge at UACHS, our family and community grow. We value the essence of family and having role models around us to push us to higher heights. Although he ha7s just started teaching and coaching at our school, Jeff Papcun is already a perfect fit.
Before teaching, Papcun was the superintendent of Parks and Recreation in Monmouth County for 14 years. Soon after this, he went to school for physical education and health, with aspirations of becoming an athletic director. Within this process, he needed a job and coincidentally enough, there was an opportunity at his brother’s school.
As Papcun has settled into the new school environment, he recognizes the essence of our school and how it resonates with him and his values.
“The one thing that I learned from observing the school is that it is very family-oriented. Not only with the staff, but with the students as well,” said Papcun.“Having something similar to this really stands out to me because I’m very family-oriented.”
Beyond his aspirations, Papcun’s passion for the students here is clear. He values the strong relationships between students and staff.
“There’s a very good student-teacher relationship here at the school,” said Papcun.
His focus on fostering a community aligns with his values, especially his emphasis on family.
“At the end of the day, it’s not just about you, it’s about the whole community,” said Papcun. “It will go a long way if I could teach them to forget about themselves and learn how to love each other.”
Although he is new here, he is enthusiastic about improving our school’s community. Starting a girls’ flag football team is one of his main goals, motivated by his own passion for the sport.
“The one thing I’ve been saying since I got hired is that I would love to start a girls’ flag football program here,” said Papcun.
Papcun has an unwavering commitment to his goal of fostering students’ academic and personal development as he looks to the future.
His commitment to community, coaching, and family is already having an impact. It’s evident he has so much more to offer here in the future.
