New addition, Kordian Starczyk, knew from a young age that history was his calling and as he starts his third year in education, we welcome him to our school. Receiving his bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from William Paterson University and his master’s in education from Rutgers University, he believes that ideas and events from the past always find their way into the future.
“When I was younger, I learned in school about World War ll and also received a lot of information from my family,” said Starczyk. “I thought this story was very important and I should be able to teach it to people one day; I like to think history is a domino effect that connects everything to me.”
His early understanding of World War ll from various accounts allowed him to understand the importance of the past, and how it affected where he is today.
“There is a lot of the world to learn,” said Starczyk. “I want my students to make the world a little bit better because they learned about the world and its people.”
Starczyk’s initial goal is to teach students about the past to take care of the future. From the everlasting connections and effect that the past has on our future, Starczyk is here in the present to help us find that connection.
