When President Joe Biden withdrew from his presidential campaign and instead endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, everyone knew this upcoming election would be one for the books.
Kamala Harris, who is seen as a younger candidate than Trump and Biden, appeals to voters looking for a new look in the White House.
In 2020, she became the first black and south asian woman to ever serve as vice president. Before that, she served as California’s attorney general and as a U.S. senator.
As the Democratic nominee, Harris plans on tackling climate change, gun control, abortion rights, inflation, and a balanced side for the ongoing wars.
As a candidate, she faces troubles in removing herself from what President Biden has done in office. She has views on strengthening the economy including mortgage assistance, and tax credits for parents of newborns. One of the main messages she has repeated throughout her campaign is that, “One of my highest priorities is to do what we can to support and strengthen the middle class.”
Former president Donald Trump who is running once again, is seen as the most controversial candidate. Currently, he is facing several legal battles mostly relating to his attempts to overrule the 2020 election results. During this campaign cycle, he has experienced two assassination attempts.
As the Republican nominee Donald Trump is focusing on reducing inflation, lowering housing costs, opposing renewable energy, and new tariffs on foreign goods. His stance on immigration continues to be harsh with him wanting to finish the border wall. His main slogan since 2016 has been, “Make America Great Again.”
This particular election has been more focused on social media, with both candidates creating TikTok accounts and posting daily relatable trendy content. Trump and Harris have also started to pursue influencers to endorse them to aim for a younger demographic of voters. With Trump appearing on popular Kick streamer Adin Ross’s stream and Harris on the podcast, “Call Her Daddy” which she has received much backlash from Republicans.
Harris took it a step further by launching a nationwide “Fight for Our Freedoms College Tour” to encourage young adults to get out and vote.
On November 4 voters will be able to cast a vote for their candidate in the hopes that this pick is the best choice to lead the United States of America towards a better future.
