The 2019-2020 Generals baseball team is ready to win with the talent of multiple returning players. Winning will take a complete team effort, requiring the most tenured players to lead the way.
In preparation for this upcoming season, last year all star and all-county selection, Miguel Fresse, put in a lot of work in the off-season.
“During the off-season to help get my game better I played in other summer leagues to which also helped me get used to playing with a new level of competition,” said Fresse.
To assist in staying composed as a team and trust in each others abilities, the team goes to the field frequently. This helps them practice plays and build chemistry.
“A couple days out the week when the weather is good we would all meet at the park and work on team chemistry, cardio, throwing and batting,” said Fresse.
In order to win, Fresse knows what’s required from him individually to elevate himself as a player.
“One thing I struggled with before is containing my emotions, so this year I’m going to focus on that because I know it will help make me a better player,” said Fresse.
He also knows what the whole team needs to work on in order to improve and play to the best of their ability, to stay on the same page.
“For us to play at the level that I know we can, we all just have to work together and have the same mindset throughout the entire season,” said Fresse.
Head coach and physical education teacher, Richard Miller, believes this will be the season the baseball team succeeds. He also believes the team has some of the key components to be a strong group this year.
“They have a strong work ethic which is important,” said Miller. “They are also disciplined as a team which can get you far.”
Last year’s baseball season didn’t result in many wins but with the experience, depth and talent of the returning players, the generals believe they can turn it around.
