The Student of the Month breakfast time has been changed from 7:15 a.m -8 a.m. to 8 a.m.-9 a.m., which has caused problems with students bringing their parents to the program. However, according to History Teacher and Student of the month coordinator there was a bigger turn out with parents on November 30.

According to senior Briana Griffin, since the time of the breakfast has been changed, it has caused an inconvenience for her parents to come.

“Since I did well, I would like if my mother or father would be able to come, but since the time has been changed to around the time they go to work, it is harder for them to see what I have been honored for,” Griffin said.

According to sophomore Erica Leonardo, to get recognized by her parents means a lot.

“When my mother or dad sees how good I’ve done, it makes me feel good because I worked hard to get it,” Leonardo said. “Even though my mother came [to the later breakfast], it would feel good if my dad was able to come as well.”

Student of the Month coordinator Joe Timpanaro said that the time was changed based on the turnout from previous years when the program was at 7:15 a.m.

“There were only 15 students there on time, and maybe 20 would eventually show up out of 40 students, only 50 percent of their parents would show up,” Timpanaro said.

“More students and parents came to the program this year, and since students were there on time for school, they could not miss it, also out of the 40 plus students that were chosen, only two students were absent,” Timpanaro said. “The only downside to it is that the teachers could not see their students get their reward, and it is for the students and their parents.”
